This course is a continuation of ART 145 “The Art of Illustration” where the student developed an understanding of the field of Illustration from both an historical and business perspective. The primary emphases of “The Art of Illustration II” is to continue the creation of a body of work that will contribute to a finalized working portfolio. The student will set their own objective for the course. Their body of work should reflect the artistic direction and stylistic approach they intend to pursue in their illustration career. It would be expected that the student should be able to complete 6-8 pieces of work, depending on size and complexity. The student will also be required to create collateral promotional materials such as a contact postcard, professional website, and a presence on 1 or more social media platforms. The student will be afforded the opportunity to receive constructive feedback and critique from experienced illustrators, art directors and marketing professionals.
